California Coastal Commission Reviewing Riprap Permits In Oceanside

On March 5, 2021, the Coastal Commission notified the city of Oceanside that it would be reviewing its decision to grant a permit exemption for the repairs of riprap (rocks used to stabilize and protect land from erosion) installations on the beach side of houses located at the end of Oceanside Boulevard.

However, work continued on the riprap after a stop-work order. New boulders were dropped in and existing boulders moved toward the sea, effectively increasing the usable land for these properties.

The increase in the land would not appear officially on property documents but the extra area would still add value to the land says realtor Chris Abad; nevertheless, further market analysis should be considered to support such a claim.
